viscosity

Auxiliary materials are mainly used as fillers, adhesives, wetting agents, lubricants and disintegrating agents in effervescent tablets. It is understood that some excipients often have several functions, such as starch can be used as a filler, adhesion and disintegration. Therefore, users need to master the characteristics of various auxiliary materials and apply them reasonably in the design of ingredients, which can not only save the auxiliary materials, but also improve the quality of effervescent.

adhesive
The choice of adhesive has a great relationship with the quality of the finished product. If the viscosity is insufficient or the dosage is too small, the pressed product is easy to loose and break, but if the viscosity is too strong or the dosage is too large, the particles will be too hard and the sugar made into effervescent tablets is not easy to dissolve or disintegrate. Syrup is a strong adhesive, making sugar tablets harder.
When using dextrin as a binder, it is understood that if the amount of dextrin is too large, it will make the particles made of too hard, there are often marks on the surface of the sugar tablets, sesame spots, affecting the effervescent sugar disintegration rate.
Dextrin alone is seldom used in production, and it is often used in combination with starch or sugar powder in an appropriate ratio, or used in combination with starch in effervescent tablets which are easy to soften.
Acid and alkali material
Acid base material has certain influence on effervescence effect and production, three points are pointed out in the industry.
Firstly, the proportion of acid-base materials plays an important role in the efferent of efferent. Generally, the content of carbon dioxide in finished products is not less than 8%. In order to moderate the acidity and sweetness of products and ensure complete neutralization of bicarbonate or carbonate, the amount of acid is generally slightly higher than that of alkali by 10%.

Third, after replacing citric acid with tartaric acid or fumaric acid, the effect is better without precipitation. Instead of citric acid, tartaric acid will greatly reduce moisture absorption, but the taste is not as good as that of citric acid.
Magnesium stearate
Magnesium stearate has a certain effect on quality. Industry said, magnesium stearate hydrophobicity, too much will affect the sugar tablet disintegration or fragmentation.
Magnesium stearate is mostly used as lubricant in the process of using the tablet press, but all raw materials and auxiliary materials for making vitamin C effervescent tablets should be soluble in water, because magnesium stearate is a hydrophobic substance and does not dissolve in water. The use of magnesium stearate in vitamin C effervescent tablets will produce turbid precipitation phenomenon, it is recommended not to use or use as little as possible.
